Although this is a short African-American romance, the issues the characters face are deep and many. I appreciate that there were no quick fixes. However, it seemed strange to me that except for one of the main characters, everyone had some major issue they were dealing with. I found myself questioning whether this is true to life, or stereotypical.
In this story, Emily faces not only the upheaval of a recent loss, but also the difficulty of finding out that the people she loves the most aren’t as perfect as she thought. I admire that her faith in God carried her through it, and that God used her to encourage others who were going through difficult circumstances.
If you read the book, I think you will find that the title is quite clever.
