“Clueless Cowboy” by Mary Connealy

The title says it well, when Jake “Joe” Hanson- a city boy- meets rancher Emily Johannson. He wants to learn to “rough it”, but Emily has her hands full just trying to keep him alive long enough to fall in love with him.  Worlds and words collide when these two meet.  Add some chickens, a cow, an 8 year-old girl, and a past that’s trying to catch up with him, and you have enough drama and mayhem to keep you entertained from the first sentence to the last.  Truly an excellent read, and it may well be my favourite from this wonderful author.

I recently discovered Mary Connealy as an author and enjoy her writing style immensely.  The characters, their dialogue, and the situations they find themselves in make for entertaining reading. Especially enjoyable are her scene transitions (a trademark of hers), and the fact that several of the series I mention below intersect with one another.  She also takes the time to develop her characters so well, you wonder if they really exist…and wish you could meet them!

Other books by Mary Connealy:

“Montana Rose”, “The Husband Tree”, and “Wildflower Bride” from her Montana Marriages Trilogy

“Petticoat Ranch”, “Calico Canyon”, and “Gingham Mountain” from her Lassoed in Texas Series

“Doctor in Petticoats”, “Wrangler in Petticoats”, and “Sharpshooter in Petticoats” in her Series Sophie’s Daughters

This list is not exhaustive…

Have you read any of Mary Connealy’s books before?  Which was your favourite?
