“Route 66 Reunions” by Mildred Colvin

While the Mother Road did not figure into the stories quite as much as one would expect given the title, this was a very good 3 in 1 Romance. Because these are “reunion” romances, there is a lot of emotional drama for all the characters as they deal with their pasts.

A single mother with three boys from as many fathers, a mother who finally gets to meet the son she had to give away, and a young widow who was once betrayed, are the main characters of these three gripping romances. Issues like adoption, fostering parenting, unplanned parenthood, and healing from past rejection and betrayal abound as well. The author expertly weaves stories that portray the consequences of past decisions and the one Decision (to follow Christ) that can change one’s future.

Though there are heavy issues to deal with, I appreciated that the author did not write with too serious a tone. We are introduced to the characters in their present lives; and any references to the past are simply that (no flashbacks). The author really took the time to make her readers enter into the lives of her characters and the stories moved along at a steady (but not boring) pace. I did find that the endings wrapped up a little too quickly and neatly—especially the last one (though the characters apparently had no more questions about each other’s past, I was left with some).

A good book from an author I hadn’t yet read. I hope you will enjoy it and learn from it as well.

Thanks to Net Galley (https://www.netgalley.com) and Barbour Publishing Inc. for not only producing such great novels, but letting me read and review them as well.
