“Sarasota Dreams” by Debbie Mayne

This three in one collection is set in a Mennonite community in Sarasota, Florida and makes for an interesting blend of characters, places and situations.

Most Mennonite or Amish novels take place in out-of-the-way communities, but this one portrays and explores the simple life style of the Mennonites who live within a world of modern conveniences and “outsiders”. It gives me a higher respect for the people who chose to live differently in a world where their differences are more clearly seen and more often commented on.

Each story was sweet, but contained enough drama (but not dramatics) to keep me reading until the end. To be honest, when I read that the book was about Mennonites in Florida I was surprised (not to mention sceptical), but these were enlightening and inspiring stories. Debbie Mayne did an excellent job portraying her characters and the challenges they face daily, spiritually, and of course, romantically.

I’d like to thank Net Galley (https://www.netgalley.com/) and Barbour Publishing, Inc. For providing me with a copy of this book to read and review.
