“August Bride” A novella by Debra Clopton

Sandbar Ranch meets Sunflower Bistro in this beachy cowboy romance.
Kelsey is done with cowboys, but the one who rescued her from the surf is far from done with her. Her heart’s the only rodeo he wants, and he’s determined to rope her. With her emotions roiling and a posse of matchmakers prodding her, will she be able to turn over her hurt heart and broken trust to this cowboy?
The story was sweet and developed well, though like most novellas the last act is accomplished at a gallop. As for the writing, I found the turn of phrase tended to be explanatory rather than descriptive. Also, there was a lot of swooning on both sides of the romance, leaving a bit of a sappy taste in my mouth. Still, it’s a nice story with characters you’ll fall in love with.
