Stone Hammond is the stuff of dime novels—tough, smart, and large-muscled. But he’s a man, and men can’t be trusted. Not to Charlotte’s way of thinking. Besides he’s been sent to “retrieve” the girl in her care—the girl she was given to protect. But fleeing the school for exceptional youth she’d been head-mistress at in the middle of the night wasn’t enough to elude the best retriever in the state of Texas. But maybe if he lets her explain, she can persuade him to call off the chase…
For his part, Stone Hammond didn’t know what he was getting himself into when he took the job of finding a businessman’s kidnapped granddaughter. But he always retrieves what he sets out to get. And when this job is over, maybe he’ll turn his attention to the alluring, yet retiring school teacher, he can’t seen to keep out of his heart.
It seemed that every page of this novel was replete with well-turned phrases, fun yet meaningful metaphors and a rush of adrenaline. Karen did an amazing job giving her males a very male voice and perspective without making them seem shallow when it came to emotions. The spiritual messages blossomed from the pages in just the right place to make the most impact both in the characters’ hearts and the reader’s.
A Worthy Pursuit is a worthy read for any who like dime novel adventure, heart-stopping romance, and spiritual nourishment all under one cover.
